Chamath Janaka Perera is a mouthful when it comes to the rapper’s stage name FILL-T, hailing from Moratuwa, his native place where merry making and soul music is part of the spirit, Chamath has much talent to boast of in his career as a singer. His first song ‘Malpettak’ included in the video has the rendition of ‘Amma’, ‘Moonlight Queen’ and ‘Pem Keruwata’. Contributing to the popular maiden album in Iraj’s – ‘yalpanam’, he has been featured with K.Sujeewa, Hasanjith, Madanee and Doggy Nation.
Chanaka also has two songs for news and home movie called Lawariz and Suwariz. His ambition as a solo artiste comes true when his solo album of 16 songs is released in the near future. The tracks for which is been done by Milan Fernando, Aruna Lian, Hiran Thenuwara, Slacker (Eranga), Mahesh and Gimantha Aponso. Lyrics by Wasantha Dugganarala, Kalum Srimal, Hiran Thenuwara and Shakthi. The first song released by the album is ‘Party Started’, a good radio hit among the Sri Lankan radio stations. The music produced by Milan Fernando and the rap part of the total album personally handled by Chamath is something to look forward to by rap fans.
‘My latest song ‘Nithambani’ is played by the BBC channel which is played by the 6th Lane group with the rap parts done by me.
I have won the best hiphop outstanding act 2005 TNL onstage with my other crew K Pound.’ Says Chamath, the guy inspired by Snoop Dogg, 2pac, Dr.Pre, Easy-E, N.W.A. and Dogg Pound. He considers them as legends and listening to these tapes he began writing his own lyrics. Further his expansion in working on songs is a spillover with the large group whom he works with for his first solo album are popular artistes, Naughty Doggy, Smokani, Wring Wrazer, K-Mac, Earth Quicker, Middle Finger, GT, Born Free, Lady Shi, Blunts and Alcohol.
